Background of the Study
Rural development is critical to achieving equitable growth, reducing poverty, and improving living standards. Financing rural development requires efficient budgetary practices that align resources with development priorities such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture. In Wukari Local Government Area (LGA), Taraba State, budgetary practices significantly influence the planning and execution of rural development projects. However, the challenges of budget inefficiency, misallocation of resources, and inadequate stakeholder participation have hindered rural development in the area. This study evaluates the effectiveness of budgetary practices in financing rural development in Wukari LGA.

Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to promote rural development in Wukari LGA, challenges such as delayed project execution, resource wastage, and lack of accountability persist. These issues are often linked to ineffective budgetary practices. This study investigates the role of budgetary practices in enhancing rural development financing in Wukari LGA.

Aim and Objectives of the Study
The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of budgetary practices on rural development financing in Wukari LGA, Taraba State. The specific objectives are:

  1. To assess the effectiveness of budgetary practices in financing rural development in Wukari LGA.

  2. To identify the challenges affecting budgetary practices in rural development financing.

  3. To propose strategies for improving budgetary practices to enhance rural development in Wukari LGA.
